My series is inspired by the works of Romantic poets John Keats and Percy Shelley.
Keats' sonnet "To Sleep" is a known metaphor for the ultimate rest; a state of unconsciousness an escape, from all that troubles us. Shellys' "Hymn to Intellectual Beauty" explores a more animated state: the power of the human imagination, the qualities of beauty that resides in nature and in the enduring spirit.
These poems were not only inspiration for a bigger project of interpreting poetry through color and light, but became a way for me to appreciate this artistic form anew. Their truths and their endings have, in essence, sparked my beginning.
